1.
In Rapture 01:30
there’s poison to the touch (yet now i watch you) of your saving grace (fall from grace) i’ve come to believe (prematurely) we’re all just faces for the mistakes of the men of our pasts my god. what the fuck? blood traces the corners of my conscience your body hidden in the blades of grass i’m begging you, please come back with life in your eyes. step by step i stumbled towards the exit. oh my god! what have i done? i couldn’t bear the sight of the fear that breathes where you lie. (the sky is falling & all i can do is look up.)
2.
shut eyes, open arms. falling in love with the storm. open your eyes. in my arms, your failures are reborn. wake the fuck up. your silhouette breaks in the wind. leave me now. i see the light taking me in & tethering me to the end. (oh god, please no. why? my god, please no. i don’t want to go.)
3.
i will never leave your side. look through the glass to the end times. we are not alone. fear and i, chained at the fucking hip. she’s in our hearts, she’s in our minds. she’s how i live. i’m afraid to leave your side. look to the past, to a better time. we were never alone. now, i will never drown again. straight down to the ocean floor where i first saw light.
4.
Epilogue 02:15
dead ends making no difference. bruised hip & ego alike. language becomes a weapon. bullets from your lips to mine. farewell. this fight will not see one. exhale. lead exits the temple, i trust in the gun. this is our ending. blow it all sky high, and fly away.
5.
darling, say something. we’re all bleeding out. i can’t wake up. darling, say something. i can’t hear you now. you’re on the side of angels. you’re eyes sear like vultures. your arms bruise my shoulders. make way, i’m breaking out. make way, i need to know how not to need you.
6.
you are the sun. and i, the earth beneath. if that light ever dies, it’s your name we’ll sing. i can’t help but wonder if you’ll ever leave. you are the sun. and i, the earth beneath. your lights never lie, and i owe you everything. you are the sun.
7.
time is the antagonist & she pulls no punches. i’m afraid that we’re all finite & life will leave no debt unpaid. we will not all sleep. death is not a promise on damnation’s conscience. i’m afraid that we’re all finite & our mistakes negate what’s next. we will not all sleep. but, maybe one day i can breathe. i put my eyes to the floor & paced circles where your feet stepped first. when time was cautious and kept me cradled in her arms. before any leaf could turn, i picked my eyes up at the slightest sight of that slow burn. cause i’m still afraid as i was before any lesson i’ve learned. but i will not die in my own shadow & i will not die.
